Publications include: verse translation of The Odyssey, 2017; The Greatest Empire: A life of Seneca (= Seneca: A life, UK title); The Death of Socrates: Hero, villain, chatterbox, saintSelect Tragedies of Seneca; Mocked with Death: Tragic overliving from Sophocles to Milton.  Classics editor on Norton Anthologies of World Literature and Western Literature. In progress work includes: an edited volume of essays on ancient tragedy, Bloomsbury; new verse translation of Oedipus Tyrannos, Norton Critical Editions; new verse translation of the Iliad, Norton; short book on translation, classical studies and gender; book on reception of classical literature in the early modern period.
