Nancy Lee Roane's dissertation, "Radical Energy Narratives in Argentina and Brazil," identifies recent fiction and film that retell canonical stories of Latin American modernization through the lenses of energy, environment, and technology. As a doctoral student, she was a 2018-19 Graduate Fellow of the Penn Program in the Environmental Humanities, co-organizer of the Intensive theory reading group and the Comparative Literature Speaker Series "Theorizing", and a Spanish language instructor for the Romance Languages Department at Penn. She also served as a Graduate Fellow for Undergraduate Research Programs at CURF (the Center for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships).
