The book launch will take place at the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, March 25th at 5pm, as an event of the Infidelities Conference.
Shushan Avagyan is a radical contemporary author from the Republic of Armenia. Her first novel, A Book, Untitled (2006), straddles issues in the geographies of both the post-Soviet world as well as the Middle East.
The translator Deanna Cachoian-Schanz is a PhD candidate in the Comparative Literature and Literary Theory Program at the university and is currently working out of Istanbul.
The launch will be formatted as a conversation between author/s and translator, moderated by award-winning, Armenian American fiction writer Micheline Aharonian Marcom. Micheline will be moderating a conversation with Shushan and Deanna, in addition to Nancy Agabian, award-winning Armenian American author whose book The Fear of Large and Small Nations (Finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially-Engaged Fiction) is out this May with Nauset Press.
