INTENSIVE: A Philosophy and Theory Reading Group

Intensive is and always has been a collaborative reading enterprise, and we hope that you will join us in this journey. Absolutely no prior knowledge of the weekly texts is required, nor is any intimacy with the various histories of philosophy, art, critical theory, or literary studies. We always aim to grapple with our text on its own terms, recognizing that critique can only begin with understanding, at the moment when we start, as Derrida puts it, to “inhabit” an argument. All that is required is a willingness to attend to the text at hand!

If you have any questions about Intensive's format, mission, text, or the planned reading program, then please do not hesitate to contact either Cory Knudson ( or Nancy Roane ( with any queries.

Check the COML Events site for future meeting dates.  Refreshments always served.
