Upon the momentous event of the final volume's publication (2021), Professors Robert and Sally Goldman—in their capacity as chief translators and editors of the Princeton Ramayana Translation Project—will offer reflections on the nearly four decades of labor that went into the definitive translation of the critical edition of the great Sanskrit epic poem Ramayana. They will speak on the general challenges of rendering the language and poetics of the great work from Sanskrit to English but also speak to the processes involved in integrating the Sanskrit commentarial tradition into the translation while also addressing the millennia of reception of this most important work of ancient Asian culture.
