Book Launch for Jed Esty, Jonah Siegel, Nancy Yousef

Jed Esty book launch
5:00pm - February/23/2023

The Modernist and Contemporary Literatures Reading Group (Mod/Con), the Restoration to Victorian Studies Reading Group (Res/Vic), and the Department of English at University of Pennsylvania invite you to a Joint Book Launch Party to celebrate the publication of three recent monographs.

On Thursday, February 23 at 5:00 PM, we invite you to gather in the English Faculty Lounge (Fisher-Bennett Hall 135) to celebrate the publication of:

  • The Future of Decline: Anglo-American Culture at Its Limits by our very own Jed Esty (Vartan Gregorian Professor of English at Penn);
  • Overlooking Damage: Art, Display, and Loss in Times of Crisis by Jonah Siegel (Distinguished Professor of English at Rutgers);
  • The Aesthetic Commonplace Wordsworth, Eliot, Wittgenstein, and the Language of Every Day by Nancy Yousef (Professor of English at Rutgers)

The event will begin with some light refreshments, followed by a moderated panel and Q&A with Jed Esty, Jonah Siegel, and Nancy Yousef. We will end with a catered dinner to celebrate these recent publications. If you'd like to stay for the dinner, please email your RSVP to Eilis at elombard@sas.upenn.edu and include any dietary restrictions, so that we can have an accurate headcount for our catering order.

We are excited to welcome many of you to this event in-person. That said, we will also stream the panel on Zoom for those who cannot make it to Fisher-Bennett. If you plan to join via Zoom, please use this link to join us.
